Understanding the End User: What Makes a Website Successful

In the episode, Why Didn’t You Choose WordPress, I emphasize the importance of prioritizing the user experience when designing a website. Many people make the mistake of focusing too much on the technical aspects of the website, rather than considering how it will be perceived and used by visitors.

I highlight that when building a website, it is crucial to choose a platform that is user-friendly for the actual user, not just for the person managing the backend. Keep in mind that while the person managing the website may find it easy to navigate and update, it does not necessarily mean that it provides the best experience for visitors and potential clients.

Unless you are selling to yourself boo……..

Ya’ll know I love a good story, so I shared a conversation I had with a copywriter friend who complimented my website for making her feel immersed in it. This positive experience is a combination of the subtle movements and attention-grabbing elements incorporated into the website’s copy. This example emphasizes the importance of creating a user experience that captures attention and engages visitors. Increased visibility and engagement is what we are here for in these website streets.

I also address the trend of people feeling the need to have a website without knowing what they want it to achieve for them. Just because somebody told you to have one doesn’t mean you were ready. It is imperative that you solidify the purpose and goals of the website before thinking about website builder or a web designer. We don’t just do pretty sites ‘round here, ya’ll know the math has to math.

Overall, this episode emphasizes that the focus of a website should ultimately be on the end user and their experience. I encourage you as a business owner  to prioritize user-friendliness, engagement, and creating a positive user experience that aligns with the goals and needs of the target audience. If you do not know how to do that please hire a designer, but before you do grab our list of 5 Things To Solidify Before Hiring a Designer.
